Yeah.. and it really is a great deal.. just gotta get the time to get down the hill.. hard to do when you don't get home till 6pm and it's dark.

Plus, that needs a lot of work before it can drive.. not that is not a GREAT deal.. just don't really want to have to assemble a full bug.

I tell you what, I buy that for you, and you give me ghia What a Face

@ John,
Yes, they do.. but I was on there website tonight and it would cost me 600 bucks for all 4 fenders, plus then I need to buy there running boards for another 150 bucks.
So, would rather make it work with stock fenders. I thing I have found away, just need to be patient and save some money for it after I buy my bug.

Patience is NOT my virtue..hehehe.

I just scanned the craigslist in the bay area.. man I wish I had about 4k to spend... there was 2 really cool verts for sale... that would be my fantasy come true.

I'm sure you would. You could move to San Francisco with it.

A few replys ago the question was asked

They make wider fenders for bugs. wouldn't that solve the problem with those rims.

The tires rub on the inside not on the fender.

If you use wider fenders then you can use spacers on the inside to solve the inside rub.

Ahhh.. everyone is correct. That is why when you look for new rims you must know what the off set it. The distance from the mating surface to the center of the rim. A stock rim has 36mm of off set.. meaning that where the rim sits on the drum, the center of the rim is 36mm in toward the drum.

So yes... depending on the rim.. if you get a larger rim with say, only 20mm of off set.. the tire will will stick out of the fender.. so wider fenders. If you narrow the beam and get a 17x7 with a 40mm off set you will clear stock fenders and you just adjust the steering stops a bit so it does not rub.

Everything I have read, says this combo works well. Now a 15" rim at 7" does rub.. because it is to close to the ball joints.. but 16 and 17" rims clear the ball joints.

I have done a ton of research and am still looking just to verify everything I have read.
