PostSubject: Pete gets a new stance.   Mon May 14, 2012 11:00 am

So after much waiting for parts and such I finally finished the lowering of my 73 Super. Thanks to the use of Kim and Bobby's shop the process went smooth. At the tech day I installed new strut towers new strut inserts new springs and bump stops. The rear got a new set of shocks. Here are some pictures. The first pic is the b4 shot.

I have a little scrubbing when turning but a tire change should sort it out.

That looks sweet, but it would require a wheel and lug pattern change....not there yet!!

While neither one of these are Pooper-Beetles, they are fat chicks and they have a badass look to them...

Interior next, then save money for disc and lug conversion. I will prolly go with the wide fives.

How about a nice set of 4 lug 2 liters???

I think the offset would be favorable.

Porsche twists would look good too...

Please for the love of GOD and the seven apostles....DO NOT go with anything wide-5 on a pooper beetle! The rivers will flow a blood red, there will be a million earthquakes, all of the world's volcanoes will simultaneously explode!!! In a nutshell, the world will come to an end and you don't want that to happen, do you?

Absolute best case scenario....you will have no friends and people will throw stones at you.

Lowering the rear will raise the front a little.

May or may not fix the issue with the rub, depending on how bad it is.

If you want to maintain the forward rake effect, I would look for a smaller tire...

Might do some look up on what other super duper owners have done and take a consensus.

Gotcha, I will check out superbeetlesonly.com and see what those people are doing. I will prolly try the rear lowering. the rubbing is minor and with care the car can be driven.

Breck, I think what he's trying to say is you'll be kicked out of the club.

Also, I pretty sure there were 12 apostles.

All jokes aside Breck, wide fives on a Super Duper really wouldn't look "Right". It's that early/late thing. People will give you constant crap about it. Congrats on the lowering job. It looks great!

It's mild and with the black wheels and absent bulky bumper, I have to say it looks pretty good. It's a subtle but effective change. Well thought and well executed.
