So I picked these up, a set of dual 34mm Solex - complete kit with type 1 manifolds (ported and polished), hex bar, and air cleaners with an header and muffler. They were purchased brand new 300 miles ago and were run on a 1641 dp. I would like to put these on my 73 super at the next tech day. What is your feelings on getting it done at a tech day, and whats the opinion on the set of carbs......ie likes-dislikes good bad. Breck

I WOULD DEFINENTLY RECOMMEND CUTTING ACCESS HOLES/PANELS IN THE WHEEL WELLS LIKE DAWNS CAR BEFORE DOING IT. MAKES LIFE SO MUCH EASIER. IT COULD ALL BE DONE THO IM SURE.

LOOK AT THE BUILD THREAD ON DAWNS NEW ENGINE. THERES A BIT ABOUT IT IN THERE. SANDY AND I DID THE SWAP ON HER SINGLE PORT AND CUTTING ACCESS PANELS WOULD HAVE MADE LIFE SO MUCH EASIER DOING IT.

Hey it looks like the holes were cut to accomodate weber 40's I do not think that the Solex singles have adjustment on the un-accesible side. I do not know for sure but will check when I get home.

Just a question out of curiosity, didn't you pick up a set of Weber 40 IDFs too?

Why do you prefer the Solex carbs?

If you are not interested in the Webers, we should talk... cyclops

I'd suggest also changing to a mechanical advance distributor. I've heard rumors that dual carbs don't create enough vacuum for a vac advance distributor.
