Generator or Alternator? If Generator did you swap the regulator? Did you test voltage at the regulator? Also what is your voltage at the coil?

Like Matt said though, what's your voltage at your coil?

we figured it out my pops had me tap into a wire that was not the right one that would connect to the coil

so you know how when you turn the key all wires get hot well this is one of the wires that when you try and start it it turns off therefore a pointless wire for what we needed so we just ran a new one all the way back and it is running beautifully aagain just need to sync of the carbs and adjust the clutch and you will be seeing a 57 black bug running around town here starting this week

Sweet! I'm glad you figured it out. You gonna be able to make it out to the meeting this month?
